So much potential... that's currently going to waste!

Let me start by stating that I like this show. It has a good story. It has suspense, good writing, a beautiful landscape,
cheesy-pretty houses. It's super white/straight, but then again that sounds realistic for this conservative-with-money
crowd. The one thing that could be a real improvement, though, would be a new cast.

Emily Thorne / Amanda Clarke (Emily Van Kamp Michelle Trachtenberg)
I really like the idea of Amanda's character - the cruel revenge-girl that we're supposed to root for. Sadly, the actress is dull, dull,
dull. She doesn't come across that smart (and she'd have to be Veronica-Mars-smart, or at least Blair-Waldorf-smart for this) and
even worse: She isn't attractive in an interesting way. She's just pretty, yet everyone is obsessed with her. Even though her best friend
and every other girl on this show is more fascinating. So I propose she'd be re-cast with the wonderful Michelle Trachtenberg. This
show HAS to get interesting, and soon!

Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe Jessica Tuck)
I'll freely admit that I just wanna have Jessica Tuck to get a lead part somewhere. Also, I'd love for "Victoria" to actually look like a
Victoria. This woman might be famous (though I've never seen her in anything), but she's too sleek for the part and her acting is
just okay. Which is bearable, as long as everyone around her is boring as hell, but I'd actually love for the second lead part of the
series to bring it. She's supposed to be the "Queen" of all of these rich trophy wives and she's supposed to intimidate, to be a real
opponent you wouldn't wanna cross while pretending to be just classy and very charming - now where have we seen that before?

Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny Peter Gallagher)
If we're gonna go with the old "hustband cheats on his wife with her younger best friend" chliche, can the husband at least be hot
enough to pull this off? Because with either Victoria, the original or the one I'd choose, he just looks like she's way out of his league.
Also, this character is clearly an asshole, but could he be an interesting, hot asshole, please?

Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman Nicholas Hoult)
I'm pretty sure that guy Josh is at least 30, which is a thing I always hate in casting! He's supposed to just have graduated from
college, which means he must be younger than 25! Additional point: This guy might be pretty, but he does nothing for me.
Nicholas Hoult on the other hand is a brilliant actor and could give that trustfund-baby-act a whole new level.

Charlotte Grayson (Christa Allen Megan Park)
She's supposed to hook up with babyface Connor Paolo (whom I love, don't get me wrong) soon. And she's supposed to be 18
or even younger. Let's make this not look like she's molesting a boy who's ten years younger than her, shall we? And it's not like
Megan Park is on a show that's actually watchable right now.

Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann)
Jackpot! Keep him! The only casting hit so far (except for Connor Paolo and Ashley Madekwe, but their characters are so useless
I can't even bother putting them into a picspam). This guy is the one who keeps me interested in the story. Well, him and the plot,
but he's easily the best character and best cast out of all of them.

Lydia Davis (Amber Valetta Mariana Klaveno)
I hate it when I can't tell actresses apart. Amber Valetta looks like a couple of other actresses whose name I can't remember, but
they're harder to tell apart than all those girls on OTH that aren't Brooke. And this might be self-explanatory but SOMEONE HIRE
MARIANA ALREADY! Jeez! What is their problem? Not enough botox and no plastic boobs? Now that I think of it, that might be
their problem. Whatever.

Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler Jason Momoa)
Here's yet another guy who looks ancient for his part. I'd say 35+. Yet he's supposed to be Amanda's childhood friend and she's
somewhere between 22 and 25. The next problem is that this guy looks more dull than seven Rufus Humphreys together. Jason
on the other hand is super hot, has charisma and would make this dull guy seem young and interesting, even though he's not.
Also, he needs a new role since he got killed off of GoT. No reason, I just wanna see him shirtless again. Soon, please?

This. Is. Genius.

Especially Michelle Trachtenberg and Peter Gallagher!! I like Emily, but you're right she is dull. She's screwing over a lot of people, ruining their lives and she doesn't even seem evil/happy about it.

And it's not like Megan Park is on a show that's actually watchable right now.

So true. Although I do like Christa Allen.

As for Jessica Tuck, I just can't see her as anyone besides Nan right now. But I agree that she needs her own show. The woman is brilliant.

Thank you! I miss Peter, Michelle and Jessica on TV. But I don't know who Christa Allen is - is that her "Secret Life of the American teen" character? Because I've tried watching that and I'm still trying to forget I ever did. The HORROR! It was like being taken hostage by a group of untalented teenagers so they can read their lines of a High School Musical to you.
Jessica Tuck pays this type of sophisticated waspy long-term wife a lot, though. That's why I think she's perfect for it. Plus, she plays two-faced so wonderfully!

Christa Allen is the actress who plays Charlotte Grayson. No, I couldn't even bring myself to try and watch Secret Life. As a personal rule, I stay FAR AWAY from original ABC family shows!!
nemesisofamornemesisofamor on October 6th, 2011 10:38 pm (UTC)
That might be a good rule in general, but "Pretty Little Liars" is AWESOME! It starts out lame and glossy, but they have some of the best characters, good writing and they are great at creating suspense and scary stuff without needing anything supernatural, which is rare. Although that's just a show that runs on ABC family, not sure if it's original.

A friend really likes Pretty Little Liars. It's based on a book series, and I actually just picked up the first book today.

Are they good? I've read book series that are linked to TV series before, but I always hated them, even the ones that were written before. I just have high standards when it comes to books and they often sound like cheap fanfiction, even when great TV series like True Blood are the end result.

I haven't started it yet, but I will absolutely let you know how it goes!

Mariana doesn't get enough work shes so great. Her acting was top notch on true blood.

Right? I barely see her anywhere, but she's really good, not just pretty. And she's attractive in an unusual, interesting way, like a lot of TB actors/actresses. "Revenge" needs that!
jenpero: side eye red dressjenpero on October 6th, 2011 09:44 pm (UTC)
She's going to be on Dexter which I'm excited about. Ya her look is definitely unique.

Damn, that's a show I don't watch! I usually watch shows I hate or don't care about for the guest appearances, but I didn't even watch Dexter for Julia Stiles. I did watch Hawaii-something for Mariana though. Boring, pretty show!
jenpero: close up face smile season 2 premierejenpero on October 6th, 2011 09:58 pm (UTC)
Her part on Hawaii 5 0 wasn't that interesting. Typical damsel in distress.
nemesisofamornemesisofamor on October 6th, 2011 10:36 pm (UTC)
That's most women on television, sadly. You get to play high school girl until 25, college girl from ~20-late twenties, then mostly damsel in distress, or random love interest from 30-40, after that it's mostly thedivorced first wife, or the wife her husband cheats on, or the wife of a guy who's 60 but still gets better roles. Good guest parts are rare.

I'm really enjoying this show and think the casting is fine as is, but I would be so on board with Michelle Trachtenberg. I seriously love her=)
nemesisofamornemesisofamor on October 7th, 2011 04:14 am (UTC)
She is really great! I miss her on Gossip Girl!
Tammy: spawn2musicbitch on October 7th, 2011 04:20 am (UTC)
I don't know if I would go that far...lol! Not a big fan of Georgina, but I can admit there's never a dull moment when she's around.

Jason Momoa. Yes.
nemesisofamornemesisofamor on October 9th, 2011 02:32 am (UTC)
He is perfection :)
